The 2014 - 2015 school year is the start of my thirteenth year teaching 5th grade in Minooka District 201. Prior to 5th grade, I taught 3rd grade in the District for five years. And prior to Minooka, I taught first grade in New Jersey and second grade in Maine.
I am originally from New Jersey. My husband's job transfer in 1994 brought our family to Channahon. He is a chemical engineer. We have been married for thirty-seven wonderful years. My hobbies include reading, counted cross-stitch needlework, and riding my bike.
My son Brandon is married , and he and his wife, Elaine, have one son, William, who is our first grandchild. Brandon graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in English. While at ISU, he and a friend started a competitive paintball team.
Jenna, my daughter, is an assistant coach for the Ohio State Buckeyes softball team. She graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in American History. While at Illinois, she played 1st base for the Fighting Illini softball team. Jenna was a 1st team All American and an Academic All American her senior year. After college, she played professional softball for three years with the Philadelphia Force.
My goal as a teacher is to create a learning environment in which students are encouraged to do their best. I do my best to help the children I am privileged to teach achieve their goals. I also do my best to encourage responsibility. The number one factor in helping children achieve their goals and become responsible citizens is parent-teacher communication. You may contact me via email ([email protected]), telephone (815 467 4692, ext. 2202) or by sending in a note. I will make every effort to get back to you ASAP.
